~How to be 'Simple'~

'Winter Hill'

My heart is so full this evening as I write this post. I have so many blessings in my life and I feel content. I want for nothing. I enjoy everything. My needs are met. This is being 'simple' to me. I see simpleness in my daily walks, I feel simpleness in being in my home doing laundry, and I am ever vigilant for those simple pleasures that pop up everywhere. 'Tis such a beautiful thing to be aware of those small moments that can light up your day; they exist everywhere around us. Huge amounts of snow is somewhat of a rare thing where I live, and when it does fall, I stop to enjoy the quiet that is being created. This is simple moment of pleasure to me. We create simplness by our being aware of our surroundings.

I hope you can have peace and contentment in your day. I am in the middle of making some insulated curtains and will be working on those tomorrow. I have also been invited to the quilt store for some sewing time with my friend, Nancy. What a better way to spend a Friday. Needle, thread, visiting, and friends. What more could one want? These are simple things.

Contentment and blessings on your day.

Start Creating!

Beautiful snow this morning! It can never snow too much for me! And today I am blessed to be able to create in my quilting studio - double pleasures! I already went for my walk in the gorgeous white stuff and now I am ready to quilt my day away.

I believe that we women don't 'create' enough. And it can be as simple as a nice evening meal in the crock-pot to an elaborate oil painting - I think we need to be more creative and explore those things that we enjoy doing. I have a beloved cousin who loves to create with photos. The gifts she gives are such 'blasts to the past' because she finds these darling photos from when you are 5 with a cheesy smile or funky 70's clothes. Those photo gifts are so precious to me! But she likes working with that medium and it gives her and others pleasure. You go, Girl!

Create something today or this weekend. It can be anything. Try something new, or simply take some time to get back into an old hobby that you have been yearning to renew. We all need at times to turn inward and create.

Blessings on your Day,

Shanda

One Giant Leap!

My very first blog post! Wow! There are so many of you I want to meet! I have been following your blogs for some time now and you have inspired be to start my own. Over the next few months, please be patient with me as I learn and 'come to understand' this new way of communication. I have so many photos to post and thoughts I can't wait to share......

I am a displaced new england spirit, living in the pacific northwest. I envy those who live in the east. I am a quilter, wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, and have also been given the distinguished title of FN (favorite niece) by a beloved aunt. I enjoy family, home, hearth, and being quaint. My dearheart husband and I live in a dear place called 'Winter Hill' and share our home with our two children, a 17 year old daughter and 19 year old son.

I look forward to getting to know other kindred spirits and lovers of home and hearth. Nothing is more important to me than being the keeper of our home on Winter Hill.......... until later
